Here the dirt is the problem, not the protective film — so the alkaline pre-cleaner gets the nod, because it breaks down the baked-on organic load that a mild surfactant can't touch. The simple if-then rule: active coating plus light weekly dirt points you to the pH-neutral foam; baked-on summer grime with no delicate protective film points you to the alkaline.

A second factor plays in too: what you actually apply the foam with. A pressure washer and a foam lance give you that thick, long-clinging blanket.
