What is the rubber seal care kit? Koch-Chemie Pss, an applicator sponge and a microfibre cloth brought together for suitable door seals. Choose the quantities you need. The kit conditions seals that are already clean; it replaces neither cleaning nor repairs to damaged profiles.
The rubber seal care kit is a configurable care kit from Detailing1 that pairs application with controlled finishing. Koch-Chemie Plast Star "Pss" distributes its care components over the prepared surface. The sponge helps you target the narrow seal; the separate cloth picks up visible excess. Each item has a specific job, rather than simply making the box look fuller.

What we see in practice: Using the same sponge to clean a seal and then condition it cuts the wrong corner. You can carry residues straight back onto the prepared surface. Keep 1 sponge just for Pss and a separate cloth for finishing. Once the first cloth face is loaded with dressing, switch to a clean face or a fresh cloth; adding more product will not solve that.
Wet or dirty door seals are a poor starting point for Pss; apply the care product evenly with a sponge to the cleaned, dry seal.
Start by checking the seal and your vehicle's care instructions. Loose dirt, a greasy layer of old dressing or water sitting in the folds needs removing before you apply fresh product. Use a cleaner suitable for that exact surface. If you already have one, there is no need to buy another. This kit adds the conditioning stage to your existing cleaning routine.
Let the profile dry completely, including its recesses. Put the care product onto the sponge and work along the seal with control. Koch-Chemie recommends even application and thorough working-in. The sponge acts as an applicator: a tool for spreading the product. It is not a hard scrubber for grinding away dirt or old residues.
Work around the door opening a section at a time, guiding the sponge so the product stays on the intended rubber. A large, wet puddle on the sponge does not make the job more thorough. What matters on a narrow door-seal contact area is an even application. Deal with any accidental marks on adjacent paint or other materials separately, following their care requirements.
The microfibre cloth then does a different job from the sponge: it helps you check the finish and lift visible excess. The short pile is easy to keep track of when you fold the cloth and change the face you are using. Edgeless means there is no separately bound border that you need to keep away from the surface while finishing.
Let the treated area dry well and follow the product label. We do not give a fixed number of minutes or a standard dose per door here, because Koch-Chemie's product information gives no universal figure. The shape of the seal, its condition and your application affect how much is needed. Check the actual surface instead of assuming a thicker layer gives more benefit.
Keep the used care sponge separate from accessories for glass, paint and the interior. Looking clean does not tell you which product residues remain in a tool. Three sponges let you assign separate ones to different cars or tasks, for example. Five or ten cloths are fresh replacements for your routine; you are not supposed to use them all up at every treatment.
Rubber care will not make a torn or misshapen seal watertight again; this kit is for conditioning suitable, intact door seals on your vehicle.
Koch-Chemie describes Pss as using a micro-emulsion system of care components. These finely distributed components spread over and bond with the treated surface. The benefit is the conditioned surface, not a thick, highly visible layer of product. This is a care product for suitable materials; it does not glue cracks together or restore a permanently compressed seal to its original shape.
Freezing and leaking are also different problems. The manufacturer's statement about preventing freezing is not a promise that every door will open easily at every temperature. If water is trapped in the profile or there is already mechanical damage, the cause needs attention too. Another layer of dressing cannot replace that check, just as it cannot replace drying after cleaning.
A flocked seal has a fine textile surface over the rubber. On coated profiles, the coating also determines which treatment is suitable. A car brand or the material name EPDM alone therefore does not approve a product for every component. Check the vehicle instructions and test compatibility in a hidden area. If the vehicle requires a specific treatment, follow that requirement.
Silicone-oil-free describes Pss more accurately than the broad term silicone-free. It implies neither universal material compatibility nor permission to use it throughout the cabin. Koch-Chemie excludes surfaces where slipperiness is undesirable, including pedals, steering wheels and tyre treads. Rubber floor mats are not an application for this kit either. Those areas need a solution suited to that particular surface.
If the seals are dirty and have not been prepared, suitable cleaning comes first. If they are clean, dry and compatible with Pss, this care kit fits the job. If the profile is torn or water is entering the car, a technical inspection is the next step. Matching the solution to the condition is more useful than looking for one product that promises cleaning, care and repair together.
Someone caring for one car needs different accessory stock from someone maintaining several; the 18 variants change the quantities, not the product's conditioning effect.
For your own vehicle, one bottle with one sponge and one cloth is the most straightforward starting point. It already includes the care product, the application tool and the finishing tool. The second bottle adds stock: you receive two original bottles of 1000 ml each, rather than one 2-litre container. There is no need to decant or mix products, and a larger order does not change the need for controlled, economical application.
More accessories make sense when you want to separate tasks or clean used items between jobs. Three sponges can be assigned to different cars. Ten sponges are a stock option for more frequent work. Five or ten cloths give you clean replacements, including when other cloths are in the wash. Choose quantities around your routine, not around a supposed professional status.
The three selection fields are Plastic care, Applicator sponge and Microfibre cloth. The table shows the actual components in every combination. The bottles remain original Koch-Chemie containers; the selected accessory quantities are assembled from the listed shop items. Choosing a larger quantity does not mean receiving a different cloth. When it is time to replenish, you can therefore order precisely the component that you are running short of.
| Component | Quantity choices | Job in the kit |
|---|---|---|
| Koch-Chemie Plast Star "Pss" Premium Kunststoffpflege siliconölfrei | 1 or 2 × 1000 ml / 1 litre | Care for suitable, cleaned and dry door seals |
| Koch-Chemie Schwamm | 1, 3 or 10 × Black / 12x10x5 cm | Targeted application with a separate soft sponge |
| THE COLLECTION "Allround / Coating 245" kurzfloriges Edgeless Mikrofasertuch (245 GSM) | 1, 5 or 10 × 1 piece / 40 x 40cm / Grey (Dark Grey) | Short-pile, edgeless microfibre cloths for removing excess and finishing |
The 12 × 10 × 5 cm sponge gives you a manageable surface to guide, while the 40 × 40 cm cloth provides several usable faces. Its 245 GSM is its fabric weight: how much one square metre of the material weighs. That figure does not automatically make a cloth better or worse; here, short pile suits controlled finishing rather than soaking up large amounts of wash water.
This makes the rubber seal care kit a choice based on consumption and organisation. If you already have enough product and suitable tools, replenishing a single item may make more sense. Find further suitable applications in our rubber seal care range. The material on the car remains the deciding factor, rather than the size of the kit or the number of cars you own.
The biggest benefit comes from keeping the jobs separate: start with a clean, dry seal, apply the care product with control, then check for excess. A better result does not automatically require more Pss. A clean sponge, a fresh cloth face and the right quantity are more useful day to day than a large stock used indiscriminately across every area of the car.

Add Detailing1 as a preferred source on GoogleThe kit includes Koch-Chemie Plast Star "Pss", black applicator sponges and grey THE COLLECTION Allround / Coating 245 microfibre cloths. Choose 1 or 2 litres of product, 1, 3 or 10 sponges, and 1, 5 or 10 cloths. All 18 combinations include these three components, but no cleaner.
Use a dedicated sponge to apply Pss evenly to the cleaned, dry and suitable seal. Work it in, lift visible excess with the cloth and let it dry well. Test material compatibility first. The manufacturer's instructions do not give one fixed number of minutes for this process.
No, both original bottles contain the same Koch-Chemie Pss. The second bottle doubles your stock from 1 to 2 litres, not the conditioning effect. Extra sponges or cloths do not change the formula either. They let you separate vehicles and tasks or keep fresh replacements ready.
There is no blanket approval for every seal. Koch-Chemie lists door seals as an application but requires suitability and compatibility checks. Follow the vehicle instructions, especially for flocked or coated profiles. A car brand or the name EPDM alone does not replace checking the actual component.
Keep this kit off pedals, steering wheels, rubber floor mats and tyre treads. Slipperiness is undesirable on those surfaces. Something can look like rubber yet require a different care product. Keep the Pss sponge separate and choose a product specifically suitable for those areas of the car.
One bottle with 1 sponge and 1 cloth is a complete starting combination for your own car after cleaning. Larger quantities are product and accessory stock for your routine. A fixed number of treatments per litre would not be reliable without knowing the seal area, condition and actual consumption.
1. Check the material. Check the vehicle manufacturer's instructions and test Pss for suitability and compatibility in a hidden area. Suitable approval is particularly important for flocked or specially coated seals.
2. Clean and dry. Remove dirt and existing residues with a cleaner suitable for the seal. Let the profile dry completely. If you already have an appropriate cleaner, you do not need another; cleaner is not part of this kit.
3. Apply the care product. Put a small amount of Koch-Chemie Plast Star "Pss" onto a dedicated applicator sponge. Spread it evenly over the suitable seal and work it in thoroughly, keeping unnecessary product off surrounding areas.
4. Check for excess. Lift visible excess with a clean face of the microfibre cloth. Change faces when one has picked up plenty of product. Deal with accidental marks on adjacent materials separately according to their care requirements.
5. Let it dry. Let the treated surface dry well and follow the product label. Koch-Chemie's product information does not state a universal working time in minutes. Keep the care sponge and used cloth separate from tools for other jobs.
Notes: The kit does not repair torn or leaking seals. Keep Pss off pedals, steering wheels, rubber floor mats and tyre treads. There is no blanket approval for all rubber types and coatings. Follow the temperature and storage instructions on the label and keep the product in its closed original container.
