What is the ZviZZer Thermo Velour Pad? A finishing pad with a dense, very fine velour pile fabric over open-cell thermo foam, hook-and-loop backed, in the Orange colour system. It builds deep, even gloss and barely cuts any material at all. Not for removing scratches or swirls, and not for heavy correction on neglected paint.
ZviZZer Thermo Velour Pad is a velour polishing pad from ZviZZer for the finishing step, listed as Orange in the colour system. Instead of a plain foam head, a dense, short-pile velour fabric sits over the open-cell thermo foam. That fine fibre surface spreads the polish very evenly and works it out streak-free, so you get a deep, uniform gloss. Self-cut is low, so the velour pad refines rather than removes material. It runs on hook-and-loop on a matching backing plate.
Detailing1's tip from the shop: The most common mistake with a velour pad is treating it like a foam pad and running it with loads of product and high speed. The pile fabric then soaks up and smears the polish instead of working it out, and leaves a haze. Little product, medium speed, light pressure. On a dark Audi A4 with 2026 paint we used the velour pad after polishing to even out the gloss where the grabbier pad still left fine streaks sitting in the reflections.
You bring in the velour pad after the actual polishing step: a little finishing polish on the dry pile fabric, spread it at medium speed and work it out with light pressure until the film goes clear.
Day-to-day, the orange ZviZZer velour pad is the partner of a fine finishing polish like the green UC 1000 Ultrafine Cut. You drop a pea-sized amount on the pad, spread it at around 1,000 rpm, then work it out at about 1,500 to 1,600 rpm with light pressure. The velour lays the polish down evenly and finishes it streak-free. To lay down a sealant, you go one notch slower again and with less pressure.
Keep the pile fabric clean: knock the pad out after two or three sections, a clogged velour won't take any more polish and just smears. Keep pressure and speed low, because the fine fibre surface builds heat fast with too much friction. The coarse groundwork is handled by the polishing pads with foam or wool.
The velour pad builds gloss and evens out the finish, but it corrects nothing: it lacks the cut for removing scratches, swirls and holograms.
Its home turf is the last step of a detail: paint that's already polished and needs maximum depth and an even, hologram-free gloss. That's exactly where the dense velour shines. Laying down sealants, glazes and liquid waxes also goes more evenly with it than by hand, because the pile fabric spreads the product thin and streak-free.
The limits are clear. If the paint has swirls or dull patches, a correction step belongs before it: for the cut you grab a grabby Nano Wool Pad or a foam pad with cutting polish, and only then does the velour pad come in for the finish. If you're after cut, wool or foam is right. If you're after deep gloss, velour is right. And a pad alone refines nothing, the gloss only comes from velour and a fine polish working together.
The ZviZZer velour pad is the right call when, after polishing, the last percent of depth and an even gloss across the whole panel are missing.
It's less suited as the only pad for a whole detail, because with no real cut it corrects no defects. It's the finishing partner of the grabbier pads, not their replacement. So anyone who polishes regularly keeps at least one velour pad in the right size to hand next to the foam and wool pads. Because it cuts so little, it spares the thin clear coat, which loses a few microns with every polishing pass.
One detail that decides how long it lasts and that most people overlook: wash the pile fabric out before the polish hardens in it, and let it air-dry lying flat, not in the sun. Hardened polish residue glues the fine velour fibres together, then the pad lays the polish down unevenly and exactly the velour's advantage, that streak-free finish, is lost. Kept clean, the fibre surface stays soft over many details.
Not sure about ZviZZer Thermo Velour Pad Thermo Velour Pad (Orange)? Get it explained:
Add Detailing1 as a preferred source on GoogleThe Velour Pad is a finishing polishing pad featuring a dense, very fine velour pile fabric over open-cell thermo foam and Velcro, classified in the ZviZZer color system as orange. It builds a deep, uniform high gloss and removes almost no material itself. It is a pure finishing and sealing pad, not a correction pad.
For a pure high gloss, use a velour pad with a fine finishing polish. The dense pile fabric applies the polish homogeneously and works it in streak-free without creating new holograms. Material removal is handled beforehand by a foam or wool pad; the Velour Pad is used last to achieve depth.
A velour pad finishes and builds gloss, removing very little material. A Nano Wool Pad has "bite" and is designed for material removal, i.e., removing swirls and defects. Rule of thumb: If you want removal, use wool or foam. If you want high gloss, use velour.
A fine finishing polish, in the ZviZZer system the green UC 1000 Ultrafine Cut. Pad and polish grit must match: the fine velour plus a fine polish results in gloss. A coarse rubbing compound on the velour will only smear and will not build gloss.
Most common mistake: too much material and too high speed. The pile fabric gets saturated, smears the polish, and leaves a haze. Use little product, medium speed, light pressure. The pad is available in five sizes from Ø 40 to 160 mm; choose the one that suits the area.
Wash it out immediately after polishing before the polish hardens in the pile fabric, then air dry flat. Hardened residue mats the fine fibers and ruins the streak-free finish. If kept clean, the velour surface will consistently provide gloss over many detailing jobs.
The Velour Pad is the final step: It is used once the paint has already been polished with a foam or wool pad and only maximum depth and an even gloss across the entire surface are missing. Attach the pad to a suitable backing plate using the hook-and-loop fastener.
Apply a pea-sized amount of a fine finish polish to the dry velour fabric, distribute it at around 1,000 rpm, and then work it in at approximately 1,500 to 1,600 rpm with light pressure until the polishing film becomes clear and a high gloss is achieved. The dense pile fabric lays down the polish evenly and finishes streak-free.
Work in sections and tap out the pad after two to three sections; a clogged velour will no longer absorb polish and will only smear. The heavy preliminary work is done by the effective polishing pads made of foam or wool. For an even application of a sealant or liquid wax, proceed even more slowly and with less pressure.
Wash out the pile fabric immediately after polishing, before the polish hardens inside it, and let it air dry lying flat, not in the sun. This keeps the fine velour fibers soft and ensures an even application of gloss for the next detailing job.
Notes: The Velour Pad is purely a finishing and sealing pad and removes almost no material. It does not remove scratches, swirls, or holograms; for that, you should use an effective wool or foam pad with a cutting polish beforehand. Rule of thumb: If you are looking for cut, use wool or foam; if you are looking for high gloss, use velour. A pad alone does not refine anything; the gloss is only created in combination with the fine polish. Keep pressure and speed low, otherwise the fine fiber surface will build up heat. Store in a dry and clean place; protect the velour from solvents and harsh cleaners.
