COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather for Opel: Precise Spot Repair in a 20 ml Tube
What is COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather for Opel? — The highly pigmented repair dye in a 20 ml tube is ideal for precise damage repair on Opel leather — without the need for extensive spraying equipment.
COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather (Opel) is a liquid, highly pigmented leather repair dye in a 20 ml tube — specially developed for the precise repair of small damaged areas such as cracks, scratches, and color abrasion on Opel leather interiors. The color is based on original Opel color samples and can be applied precisely with a brush or sponge.
- 20 ml Tube for Spot Repairs – Precisely dispensable, no spraying equipment needed.
- Original Opel Color Shades – Factory-like pigmentation for invisible repairs.
- High Coverage – One application is usually enough — even on dark leathers.
💡 Detailing1 Workshop Practical Tip: We use Fluid Leather (Opel) in the workshop for steering wheel repairs — classic 12 o'clock abrasion. One tube is enough for 5–8 steering wheel repairs. Use a brush with soft bristles, dab on crosswise, let dry for 30 min between coats, apply Top Coat Dull — the result is indistinguishable from new.
Degrease the damaged area, dab on precisely, seal with Top Coat
Fluid Leather (Opel) is applied directly from the 20 ml tube onto a soft brush or sponge and dabbed onto the repair area in 1–2 thin layers, crosswise. Allow 20–30 minutes to dry between coats, then seal with Top Coat.
Before repair, the damaged area is cleaned with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deeper cracks are pre-filled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit sanding fleece. The highly pigmented Fluid Leather (Opel) solution is then dabbed precisely onto the prepared area — crosswise in thin layers provides better coverage than one thick application.
After complete drying for about 4 hours, seal with Top Coat Dull or Glossy to make the repair abrasion-resistant. A 20 ml tube is sufficient for 5–8 steering wheel repairs or about 15 punctual crack repairs. Workshop costs per repair are around 10 Euros, a complete steering wheel restoration takes approx. 3 hours including drying time.
Spot repair yes, large areas no
Fluid Leather (Opel) is the special solution for spot repairs — individual cracks, scratches, or smaller abrasion marks up to approx. 5x5 cm. Large-area repairs require Leather Colour in 250 ml or 1-liter containers.
The high pigmentation and the tube form make Fluid Leather extremely economical and precise — even on dark leathers, one layer is often enough for full coverage. However, for repairs larger than 5x5 cm or entire seat bolsters, the tube content would not be sufficient, and dabbing by hand would be uneconomical. Suede and velour surfaces require Nubuk Fresh (Opel) anyway, as Fluid Leather would glue the rough structure.
If only 12 o'clock steering wheel abrasion or individual cracks are to be repaired, Fluid Leather is the most economical and precise choice. If entire seat groups, steering wheels, or door panels are to be restored, it is worth switching to Leather Colour (Opel) or the Complete Repair Set (Opel) with all components.
For detailers with individual damaged areas
Fluid Leather (Opel) is the workshop solution for targeted spot repairs — detailers, independent workshops, and ambitious owners who want to precisely repair steering wheel abrasion or individual cracks.
In used car reconditioning, 12 o'clock steering wheel abrasion is a classic. A tube of Fluid Leather costs about 67 Euros and is sufficient for 5–8 steering wheel repairs — this means material costs of around 10 Euros per repair. With a brush and Top Coat, the total repair effort per steering wheel is 3 hours including drying. The result is indistinguishable from a new steering wheel after 2 weeks of use.
For pure care without damage, Fluid Leather is the wrong approach — Leather Fresh (Opel) is sufficient there. For entire seat bolsters or complete components, it is worth switching to Leather Colour. However, for those who want to precisely repair individual damaged areas with OEM color fidelity, the 20 ml tube offers the most economical and precise tool from the COLOURLOCK range.
Available Opel Color Shades (Selection)
Beige, Charc = Charcoal, Cremebeige, Green, Grey, Jetblack, Saddle Brown, Black, Blackberry, Cocoa, Indian Summer, Light Neutral, Mellow, Red, Sanguine Red, Skycool Grey, Brandy, Indian Night, Captain Blue, Bentley Cricket Ball, Shale, Brownstone, Cashmere, Tobacco, Prussian Grey, Mistral, Petrol, Soprano, Signal Red (Astra), Medium Dark Cacao
What is COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather for Opel?
COLOURLOCK Fluid Leather (Opel) is a highly pigmented, liquid leather repair dye in a 20 ml tube. It is used for precise repair of small damaged areas on Opel leather – tears, scratches, color abrasion.
How do I apply Fluid Leather (Opel)?
Clean and degrease the damaged area, if necessary, smooth with filler and sand. Apply Fluid Leather directly from the tube onto a brush/sponge and dab precisely onto the repair area. Let dry, possibly apply a second coat, then seal with Top Coat.
What is the difference to Leather Colour?
Fluid Leather (Opel) has significantly higher pigmentation and comes in a 20 ml tube – perfect for spot repairs. Leather Colour is available in 250 ml or 1 liter and is sprayed/wiped for large-area applications. For a single tear → Fluid Leather, for an entire seat surface → Leather Colour.
Do I absolutely need Top Coat?
Yes – Fluid Leather has no inherent sealant. Without Top Coat, the repair will wear off in heavily used areas (seat bolster, steering wheel) within a few weeks. Use Top Coat Dull for an original matte look, Glossy for a slight sheen.
What are the most common mistakes we see?
Classics: (1) Damaged area not degreased – poor adhesion of the color. (2) Too much material at once – looks like a repair instead of original. (3) No Top Coat – repair comes off. With filler + sanding + thin application + Top Coat, it lasts 2+ years.
Is a 20 ml tube enough for an entire steering wheel?
Probably not for a completely worn-out steering wheel – we would budget for 2 tubes there. For classic 12 o'clock abrasion over 4–5 cm in length, one tube is easily enough for 5–8 repairs.
Care Instructions for Leather Repair Dye (Opel):
Fluid Leather (Opel) is the specific solution for spot repairs — individual cracks, scratches, or minor scuffs up to approximately 5x5 cm. Large-area repairs require Leather Colour in 250 ml or 1-liter containers.
The high pigmentation and tube format make Fluid Leather extremely economical and precise — even on dark leathers, one coat is often sufficient for full coverage. However, for repairs larger than 5x5 cm or entire seat bolsters, the contents of the tube would not be enough, and dabbing it on by hand would be uneconomical. Suede and nubuck surfaces, in any case, require Nubuk Fresh (Opel), as Fluid Leather would stick to the rough texture.
If only 12 o'clock steering wheel abrasion or individual cracks are to be repaired, Fluid Leather is the most economical and precise choice. If entire seating areas, steering wheels, or door panels are being restored, it is worth switching to Leather Colour (Opel) or the Complete Repair Set (Opel) with all components.
