COLOURLOCK "Nubuk Fresh" (BMW)

COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh for BMW: specialized suede and velour leather care

What is COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh for BMW? — The specialized suede and nubuck care maintains the texture and color of rough natural leathers in BMW interiors — specially developed for velour, nubuck, and Alcantara.

COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh (BMW) is a special care dye for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour surfaces in BMW leather interiors. Unlike Leather Colour or Leather Fresh, Nubuck Fresh is not intended for smooth pigmented leather — the formulation is designed to preserve the fine fiber structure of suede and prevent it from sticking together.

Suede-specific – Specially formulated for rough-textured natural leathers.
Preserves velour look – Prevents fibers from sticking or smoothing down.
Original BMW shades – Factory-matched pigmentation for seamless care.

💡 Practical Tip from Detailing1 Workshop: With BMW suede seats, we often see the same user error — customers treat suede with regular smooth leather care, which then causes the fibers to stick together and look flattened. With Nubuck Fresh (BMW) and a fine brass brush in a 5-minute care routine, the typical velour look is maintained. After drying, brush lightly again — the fibers will then stand up soft again.

Brush dry, spray, work in along the grain

Nubuk Fresh (BMW) is sprayed evenly onto the suede from a distance of 20–30 cm with a spray bottle and worked in along the grain with a soft brush. After drying, brush again for the typical velour look.

Before care, the suede is dry-brushed with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush to remove dust and ingrained dirt. Then, it is cleaned with a special suede cleaner and allowed to dry completely. Only then is Nubuk Fresh (BMW) sprayed from a distance of 20–30 cm — avoid puddles, spread immediately.

The color is worked into the grain with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush until the pigmentation is evenly distributed. After 30–45 minutes of drying, the leather is lightly brushed again so that the fibers stand up, creating the typical velvety-matte velour look. A 250 ml bottle is sufficient for approximately 4–5 care applications on mid-range vehicles with Alcantara steering wheels and suede seats.

Suede and velour yes, smooth leather no

Nubuk Fresh (BMW) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leathers — suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented BMW smooth leathers are treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes binds with the rough fiber structure without sticking or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuck Fresh would adhere unevenly because the typical fiber structure is missing — the care would appear patchy instead of uniform. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are needed.

If the BMW vehicle has genuine suede seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuk Fresh is the only correct care. If the interior, however, consists of pigmented smooth leather, then Leather Fresh (BMW) or Leather Colour (BMW) is used. For mixed equipment (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.

For suede seats and Alcantara steering wheels

Nubuk Fresh (BMW) is the care solution for owners and detailers with genuine suede or Alcantara components — applied every 6–12 months, it keeps the leather velvety and color-stable permanently.

Suede and velour leather get dirty faster than smooth leather and fade more under UV light. The care routine every 6–12 months prevents deep penetration of dirt and protects the fibers from permanent fading. For heavily used vehicles or family cars, a 3-month rhythm is also worthwhile. One application takes about 45 minutes per pair of seats, including brushing and drying — costs per application are around 6 euros in material costs.

For pigmented smooth leather components in the same vehicle, Leather Fresh (BMW) is used — both products complement each other in the workflow. If you are looking for a complete care bundle for suede and smooth leather, you can also check out the Leather Care Set (BMW), which contains both components.

What is COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh for BMW?

COLOURLOCK Nubuck Fresh (BMW) is a specialized color restorer for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour surfaces in BMW interiors. It maintains structure and color without sticking the fibers together.

Does Nubuck Fresh also work on smooth leather?

No, Nubuck Fresh is formulated exclusively for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour. On pigmented smooth leather, it would appear uneven – for that, Leather Colour or Leather Fresh (BMW) should be used.

How do I apply Nubuck Fresh correctly?

First, dry brush the suede and clean it with a suede cleaner. Spray Nubuck Fresh evenly from a distance of 20–30 cm. Work it in with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush. Let it dry, then brush again for a velvety look.

How often should I apply suede care?

As a care routine, every 6–12 months. For frequent drivers, family vehicles, or leased vehicles being returned, every 3–6 months, as suede gets dirty and fades faster than smooth leather.

What are the most common mistakes we see?

Three classics: (1) Using smooth leather care on suede – fibers stick together. (2) Not dusting/brushing beforehand – color becomes uneven. (3) Not brushing after drying – velour look remains flat.

Do I need special brushes?

Yes, a soft suede brush (crepe/natural rubber) or a fine brass brush is essential. Normal care cloths would press down the fibers instead of raising them. Brushes are available as accessories from us.

Care instructions for suede care (BMW):

Nubuk Fresh (BMW) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leather – suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented BMW smooth leather is treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes binds with the rough fiber structure without sticking or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuk Fresh would adhere unevenly because the typical fiber structure is missing – the care would appear blotchy rather than uniform. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are needed.

If the BMW vehicle has genuine suede seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuk Fresh is the only correct care product. If the interior consists of pigmented smooth leather, then Leather Fresh (BMW) or Leather Colour (BMW) should be used. For mixed interiors (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.
