The most important application limit is not the material, but the task: Shampoo-Teufel is a maintenance shampoo, not a deep cleaner. For heavily baked-on brake dust on rims, insect crusts on the front bumper, tar splashes, chain dust, or engine oil residue, it is not the right tool. Here, specialized products are used: Alu-Teufel Spezial Grün for rims, Insekten-Teufel for the front, Teufels-Reiniger for the engine bay and workshop dirt.

For ceramic-coated vehicles (SiO₂ coatings like Q²M, Cquartz, GTechniq), Shampoo-Teufel is an optimal maintenance shampoo — the inorganic sealant structure remains completely intact. It is similarly good for carnauba wax sealants because the pH value does not attack the organic wax layer. In contrast, alkaline shampoos (pH > 9) would partially remove the wax protection with every wash.

Shampoo-Teufel is skin-friendly (the amphoteric surfactant ensures this) — hand washing without gloves is unproblematic for private users. In professional detailing, with ten or more washes per day, nitrile gloves are still recommended to avoid chronic skin irritation.

Touchscreen displays in modern cockpits, real leather steering wheels, and Alcantara are taboo — even if pH neutrality would technically allow it, the shampoo is explicitly an exterior wash product, not for the interior. Those who maintain weekly keep the paint sealant for 18 to 24 months — those who wash only monthly will see hydrophobicity degrade after 9 to 12 months. The pH-neutral Shampoo-Teufel is key here: every additional wash does not harm the sealant but maintains its function.

The 1-liter spray bottle for about 8 euros lasts for about 33 to 40 washes with weekly washing and 25-30 ml consumption per wash — so eight to ten months for one vehicle. In the 5-liter canister for about 26 euros, the price per liter drops to about 5.20 euros, which is clearly economically superior for frequent use — the concentrate proportion per wash cycle is 13 to 16 cents, a fraction of the water and energy costs of the high-pressure system.

Off-label, Shampoo-Teufel is excellently suited for sensitive outdoor household surfaces — photovoltaic modules, painted garden furniture, ceramic patio tables. However, the manufacturer's position for this is Kunststoff-Teufel, as it is officially approved for industrial and household applications. Pragmatically, the pH-neutral Shampoo-Teufel is the gentler choice for sensitive painted surfaces.

Safety note: The product falls under GHS07 with the hazard statement H319 (causes serious eye irritation). Contains sensitizing isothiazolinones (EUH208) — methylisothiazolinone and benzisothiazolinone as preservatives. Safety glasses are recommended for frequent use, especially when mixing the concentrate. The VOC content due to 1-methoxy-2-propanol is in the single-digit percentage range as a concentrate — practically negligible after dilution in the bucket.
