What is the Koch-Chemie Allround Surface Cleaner? A ready-to-use, pH-neutral surface cleaner for plastic, displays, leather, glass and textile inside the cabin. Streak-free straight from the bottle, no diluting. Not meant for baked-on grease films, nicotine residue or oily shop surfaces — for that the Green Star is the better call.

Koch-Chemie Allround Surface Cleaner is a ready-to-use, pH-neutral all-purpose cleaner from Koch-Chemie that cleans plastic, glass, leather and display surfaces inside the cabin without streaks. You apply it undiluted straight from the spray bottle. No mixing, no dilution chart, no measuring cup in a bucket.

That ready-to-use approach is exactly what sets the ASC apart from the alkaline Green Star out of the same house: there a concentrate for heavy shop grime, here a mild, fast helper for everyday interior care. The ASC isn't a replacement for the heavy-duty cleaner, it's its lighter sister for the stuff you reach for daily and in any amount you like.

• Ready-to-use, no diluting. You grab the bottle off the shelf, hit the steering wheel, centre console or door card, and wipe down with a microfibre cloth. No dosing, no mixing mistakes, no leftover you toss at the end of the week. That saves 3–5 minutes of pure prep per interior clean and makes the ASC the cleaner for the moment between two cars or between a customer and a handover — the one that has to be quick to hand, where you don't go fetch a canister off the rack first.
• pH-neutral on displays, leather and gloss trim. The neutral pH makes the ASC safe on surfaces an alkaline cleaner would chew up over time — coated leather, piano-black panels, touchscreens, matte chrome accents. Across the 10 to 15 different materials in a modern cabin you work with just one product.
• Streak-free, no cleaning film. The formula wipes off without residue and leaves no water marks or hazing on glass, displays and high-gloss plastics. Inside the cabin that's the whole game: dust and fingerprints are one problem, a greasy film after the clean is the second — especially when the sun hits at a low angle.

Day-to-day from Detailing1: Don't spray directly onto displays, buttons or gloss panels. The mist from the spray bottle works its way into display edges, button gaps and speaker grilles, where it settles as a fine film you won't get back out later. Instead, lay down 2–3 squirts on the folded face of your microfibre cloth and work from there onto the surface. Only on big, closed panels like door cards or the headliner do you spray straight onto the part — there the mist doesn't matter.

Spray, wait 30 seconds, microfibre after

You spray the Koch-Chemie Allround Surface Cleaner undiluted onto the surface from about 10–15 cm, let it dwell for 15–30 seconds and wipe down with a clean microfibre cloth. That's all the prep it takes.

On bigger panels like the dashboard, door cards or headliner, three to five squirts per part is plenty. Give the cleaner a moment to break down skin oils, fingerprints and the dust-binding layer, then wipe down evenly with the dry side of your cloth. For vents, buttons and trim strips you spray onto the cloth first and work from there into the edges.

Treat the headliner with extra care: only dampen the cloth, never spray the part directly. The headliner fabric mustn't get soaked, or the adhesive underneath lets go. With the ASC you work in broad, long passes so no dry edges form between the damp and the untreated areas.

A common mistake is too much product and too long a dwell time. When the ASC flashes off, fine streaks stay behind that you then have to re-wet and wipe away — an avoidable extra round. So work panel by panel rather than across the whole surface, and keep the dwell time under a minute.

With a cleaning gun like the Tornador or Cyclone you can also work the ASC into textiles, seat seams and door pockets, where the cloth alone won't reach. The pH-neutral formula is built for it: it lifts the dirt into foam and picks back up with little residue. With the gun method, follow up afterwards with compressed air or a thirsty cloth so no moisture stays trapped in the part.

Strengths and limits of the ASC day-to-day

The ASC is pH-neutral and ready-to-use. That makes it safe on delicate surfaces, but it costs cleaning power on heavily soiled or very greasy areas. That's deliberate in the formula, not a shortfall.

On typical everyday dirt the Allround Surface Cleaner pulls its weight: skin oil on the wheel, fingerprints on the touchscreen, a dust film on the centre console, pollen blown into the A-pillar, white specks on black plastic. That's what the product was made for.

On coated leather, piano black and gloss trim the neutral pH is an extra safety net that takes away the material guesswork that always rides along with alkaline interior cleaners. You don't have to think before every use about whether the product suits the material — on normal plastic, glass and leather surfaces in the car the ASC is a safe call.

What the ASC won't do: it won't shift old nicotine films, an oily workshop grip on the door frame or coffee stains baked into the fabric. Badly yellowed plastics on the sill or a dried cola splash in the cup holder need more muscle too. If your cabin gets cared for regularly, the Allround Surface Cleaner is your product.

When you're prepping a lease return or getting a used car ready to sell, grab the alkaline heavy-duty cleaner and then use the ASC afterwards on the finer surfaces like displays, leather and gloss trim. The two complement each other. They don't replace each other. Try to cover the whole spectrum with just one of them and you'll end up either short on power or short on material safety.

500 ml on the shelf, 10 L in the rack

The ASC is meant for anyone who keeps their cabin clean weekly or after every longer drive. No dosing, no waiting, no material worries — the cleaner that just has to be within reach.

For hobby detailers with one or two cars the 500 ml spray bottle reliably lasts a full season. With weekly use and microfibre-backed application 500 ml is built for three to four months — one bottle per car per quarter is a realistic rule of thumb.

If you work a fleet, a shop or as a mobile detailer, you're better off jumping straight to the 10-litre canister and topping up the spray bottles as needed. A full interior detail on a passenger car burns through 80 to 150 ml of product. So the 10-litre canister is good for around 60 to 120 full details, depending on how dirty the cars are and how you work.

The ASC is less of a fit when you're mainly dealing with extreme cases — smoker cars, mouldy seats, dried coffee on microfibre seat covers, paint and grease splatter out of the service bay. For that there are dedicated products in another league, and there the mild pH is more of a drawback than a plus. The ASC is deliberately not a workshop cleaner.

In your workflow you pair the ASC with a short-pile microfibre cloth from 300 GSM up — dense enough for the wheel and door card, soft enough for displays and piano-black panels. Two to three cloths per car is a solid rule of thumb: one for rough surfaces, one for displays and glass, optionally one for leather.

Application

Always spray the ASC onto a clean microfiber cloth, not directly onto the surface — especially for displays, speedometer glass, and piano black trim. Otherwise, the spray mist will settle in gaps and run uncontrollably. Work in manageable sections so that the cloth doesn't dry out in between.

For basic cleaning, apply undiluted, clean in circular motions, and immediately wipe with a second, dry microfiber cloth. Two cloths are the rule: one for loosening, one for absorbing. For Alcantara and textiles, dilute 1:5 to 1:10 and work selectively so that the fiber dries evenly.

For ventilation grilles, steering wheel seams, and textured surfaces, use a soft detailing brush to work in the cleaner. With a Tornador or Cyclone, you can disperse the ASC in a fine mist and blow out loosened dirt from crevices and seams — this is the workflow we use to finish every interior in the Detailing1 wash bay.

Notes: Never spray the headliner directly — the fabric must not get soaked, otherwise the adhesive underneath will loosen and the headliner will sag. On Alcantara, open-pore fabric upholstery, and microfiber seat covers, use a dilution of 1:5 to 1:10 and apply the cleaner via the cloth, not directly onto the material. After cleaning leather, follow up with a leather conditioner to maintain its re-greasing properties. For oily workshop surfaces, dried-on nicotine film, and yellowed door sills, the neutral ASC is not sufficient — here you should use the alkaline Koch-Chemie Green Star.
